On a cold and windy night at Charger Field at Covenant Stadium, the Chargers opened up MHSAA District play with a 2-1 victory over the Titans of Grand River Prep.  Game time temperature was a chilly 44 degrees with a strong wind out of the West.  Winter coats and blankets were the norm for the fans tonight.

Covenant took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half.  Both teams had good opportunities, but could not capitalize until GR Prep found the back of the net with 12 minutes remaining in the game.  Fans were beginning to expect the game to go into overtime.  An aggressive attack by the Chargers resulted in a corner kick for the Chargers.  A well executed entry and an outstanding header put the ball across the goal line with 1:32 remaining in the game, to give the Chargers a 2-1 Victory.
